Ukrainian Community of Metro Detroit
Documentary; 1 hour
|
About the project
The Ukrainian community of metro Detroit counts almost 100,000 people. To chronicle its activities, the board of directors of the Ukrainian Selfreliance Michigan Federal Credit Union came up with an idea of a documentary. First, it came to life as a special edition, a 20-minute-long introduction of the Detroit community to the delegates of the All-American Convention of Ukrainian Credit Unions. It was showcased at a banquet after the convention, on June 4, 2005.
Currently, the video is being expanded into an hour-long documentary. It will cover history of the Detroit Ukrainian community, and the activities of its political, religious, financial, educational, women’s, and youth organizations.
Roles in the project: producer, scriptwriter, director, photographer, editor, designer. Other photographers are sub-contracted occassionally.
Runtime: 1 hour. Media: shot on miniDV, distributed on DVD. Special "thank you" to Borys Bluj, Roma Dyhdalo, Lew Hryhorczuk, and Lubomyr Lypeckyj. Scheduled completion date: March 2006. |
